Every day, the staff at Pressley Ridge are making a difference in the lives of children
and families. They are a highly-dedicated group of individuals second to none in the
social service industry. Pressley Ridge recognizes that the organizations’ greatest asset are
the men and women who work here. To show respect and appreciation for their efforts many staff
are nominated by their peers and supervisor to be recognized as the Teacher/Counselor
of the month. From this group of nominees, one is selected each month that exemplifies
the heart of our organization. Here is one of those honorees.
There is nothing not to like about Krista. She’s taken the leadership role for tickets
for kids bringing joy to all of the service coordinators’ families. She also sets up
opportunities to build connections in our kids’ communities and she has such an upbeat
personality that she brings joy to all of us when we see her.
The things that I appreciate about Krista I’d have to start with being selfish, being
her supervisor, she makes my life easy. She’s a person who takes initiative and is very
creative in her work. She really, really enjoys kids and families, it comes naturally to her.
She came to this job from another service coordination program because Pressley offered
diversity and opportunity in ways to work with families that others didn’t and she
immediately learned another language, American Sign Language. She took courses on her own
in Deaf Culture to serve the deaf population.
What I admire about Krista, well, I feel first and foremost that she is very invested in
the clients that we serve. She’s always comes up with some great activities for them
and try to include them in the community that we serve. And she’s also the person that
does the EE in our office and what I like about it is that even though a lot of us aren’t
really into that kind of thing, she makes us do it and we always end up having a great
time.
One of the things I like most about Krista is her idealism. She’s an out of the box
thinker and finds real creative ways to pull kids and families together. She arrange lots
of communities activities such as clothing drives and craft activities at Jo-Ann Fabrics
and she always includes the parents and the kids as well as the staff, the rest of the
staff in our program.
