Hey, what's up guys! So I found this cool new program known as "Dictation" and it's built-in in almost every Mac.
You can activate it here in System Preferences, and if that's not in your dock
you can come over to Finder -> Applications, scroll down to System Preferences.
In here, you want to look for a button called "Dictation and Speech". It's usually in the same row as "Users and Groups".
And in activating it, it's as easy as clicking "On", "Enable Dictation", and "Use Enhanced Dictation".
Now, the second part is not... necessary, but it's highly recommended because it makes you
independent of having an internet connection--hence, "offline".
You can set up your language--you know, adding these extra languages take a little download time.
And for those who are stressing customization or are big on that kind of stuff,
you can basically customize it (your own shortcut key).
But I just use the default.
In Textedit, here, you can get an example of Dictation in action. See, when I type something, the keys pop up, right?
But with Dictation activated, the thing is that I won't need to type; I can just type with my voice.
For example,
"My name is Chris (comma) but most people know me as (quote) the bear killer (unquote) (period).
(New line) (new line) I am supreme (exclamation point) (exclamation point).
See? Pretty cool, right?
With Dictation, they have something known as "Voice Commands", which are essentially the commands which input your punctuation marks.
It can distinguish between (comma) and ( , ).
Dictation, keep in mind, is also "language-sensitive", which means if I wanted to type in the word: "osos",
which is Spanish for "bears". Under an English Dictation, I would get something else.
"Osos."
See? I'll get the word "also's".
But overall, Dictation is relatively accurate. It's free, it's fun to use, it saves a lot of time, and it doesn't require extra downloads
which is basically the main reasons why I highly recommend it.
