The project began construction in May of 2012.
We began the process with our shoring and excavation, followed by
the implementation of some of our concrete here on the site here today.
Along the Yonge frontage,as you're probably aware,we have the subway.
We have vibration monitors inside the subway tunnel. So we're monitoring vibration
there from our construction process inside the tunnel.
The tunnel is actually only two-and-a-half metres below the surface
of Yonge street.
Unique features of our building here is the exterior cladding,or what we refer to
in the industry
as the curtain wall system.
Special features of the system that we have here is the frit patterns.
This is the
glazing that we have on the on the glass,
and that pattern is located in a mock up that we have have over on our Church street
site. Our architects are
working with details, modifying some of the features and just
ensuring that all the pieces work.
As you know we're in a urban site here. It's very tight for manoeuvring
and the excavation process was a little bit tricky,
just because of the
the nature of the site and
where we're located.
The area that you're looking at here right now is the exterior form work
for the south core of the building. The core will contain an elevator. It will
contain
exit stairs from the building,
and it's also structurally one of the vertical stiffening elements
for the for the building that
picks up any of the wind loads. So we have two of these cores in the building. One in the
north and one in the south, and the south is the one you're looking at here right
now.
Building will be substantially complete its construction process
in the late fall of 2014 and we anticipate beneficial
use of the building
in the early winter of 2015.
