A burglary is defined in Maryland as a breaking into a persons property, a store front, or
some other private entity with the intention to commit a criminal act. Usually this criminal
act is the act of theft, and I like to think of burglaries as really a glorified theft.
Often times burglary cases are little more than an intention for somebody to take something
very minor. But the truth is it doesn't matter how minor the theft is.
It could be a pack of gum, it could be something worth just a few dollars. A burglary however
involves a breaking and when that breaking takes place that item that was just worth
a few dollars constitutes a felony criminal charge.
