Faith is the expecting the word of God itself to do what the word says and depending upon
that word itself to do what the word says. When this is clearly understood it is perfectly
easy to see why the bible defines faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence
of things not seen." Since the word of God has in itself power to produce whatever it
is that God wants to produce, the word itself is substance. Its something you can touch.
The same way we can touch this earth, if God says the word we can also touch that very miracle
we've been praying for. So knowing this, there's really no reason to ask for a sign because
the word itself is evidence of things not seen. Asking God for a sign is like telling
God His word alone isnt trustworthy enough and He needs some kind of demonstration to
cosign or verify His intent. But because we believe in the power of the word of God we
can know "through faith and understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,
so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." To me creation
is not a guess or a theory. Its not a hypothesis I have to go and run through the scientific
method. Because I have seen the word of God alone do miracles in my life, I can trust
that the word of God was equally as powerful in creating this world at the beginning of
time. That right there is logic. My faith and reason work together and build each other
up. One does not have to abandon the need for the other. But when you say that this
world with all its symmetry, order and obvious design was not implemented by a Designer but
was the result of a big cosmic accident, whose the one abandoning reason?
