Hi, I'm Eileen O'Brien for Expert Village and Suncoast Dance Academy.
In this clip we will be demonstrating Chaines Turns. One of the basic turns in ballet.
JoLynn Stevens is demonstrating for us today and before we begin the actual turn, she's
going to demonstrate the positions of the arms and the legs that occur during the turn.
She's starting in a 1st. She's going to second position and closing back to 1st. Arms and
legs open. Arms and legs closed. Arms and legs open. Arms and legs close and coming
back the other direction, notice that when her feet are apart her arms are apart. When
her feet are together her arms are together. Beautiful.
Now she's going to do the actual turn in Relevea, she opens the arms and turns and notice that
the arms are going through the same positions that she did without the turns. Opening to
2nd. Closing in 1st. Opening in 2nd. Can we do that one more time, JoLynn? To the right.
Arms open and close. Shoulders are nice and square, hips are level, and she's spotting;
she's looking in one place with her eyes as she's opening and closing.
Those were beautiful Chaines. And that concludes our Chaines.
