The centre GYNľFIV for Gynaecology, Urology andáAssisted Reproduction was established in 2004
andáis focused on complex solving of conceiving problems andáfollow-up solving of
problems associated withápregnancy. We provide initial consultations, surgical procedures
within one-day surgery, if necessary also in
cooperation with relevant hospitals.
The outpatient urological centre provides examination of male partners
and the outpatient genetic centre provides complex genetic examination of both partners.
The embryological laboratory provides comprehensively all procedures associated with fertilization
within assisted reproduction using state-of-the-art equipment such as the Embryoscope,
which by aánon-invasive technique monitors embryo development. The laboratory
also provides invasive techniques such as pre-implantation genetic diagnosis.
Ultrasound diagnostics in our centre provides foetus monitoring in particular trimesters
including morphological examination and 3D and 4D ultrasound.
The key activity of our centre deals with diagnosing male and female infertility
and subsequently the treatment by methods of assisted reproduction
using the whole range of modern diagnostic andátherapeutical methods.
Regarding procedures of assisted reproduction we perform intrauterine insemination
and in vitro fertilization.
Both procedures are usually preceded by hormonal ovarian stimulation,
which is monitored by measuring hormone levels and by ultrasound.
The laboratory of assisted reproduction processes biological material from aáwoman
(eggs ľ oocytes), but also from aáman (***).
On the day of the procedure, either intrauterine insemination or egg retrieval,
both partners arrive in the morning, aápartner delivers his *** sample,
which is then processed and prepared for insemination.
Regarding egg retrieval, these eggs are retrieved from aáwoman, then
processed and prepared for the following insemination.
In case of minor deviations in spermogram we treat infertility with intrauterine insemination.
It is a method, in which processed *** are simply implanted into the uterus of the partner.
We apply two methods of insemination in egg retrieval.
In case the spermogram is only slightly impaired, we can use aámethod called IVF
it is a natural method of fertilization in laboratory conditions,
when processed *** are simply released towards the eggs in aáculturing dish
and the eggs are fertilized spontaneously.
n case of more impaired spermogram the eggs must be specially processed,
afterwards the *** are injected with a micromanipulation device
directly into a single egg which must be mature.
Next day the eggs are evaluated.
he fertilized eggs, i.e. embryos, are then cultured until the day of transfer,
i.e. embryo transfer into the patientĺs uterus.
For transfer we select the best quality embryos. All spare embryos
are in our centre stored in liquid nitrogen, i.e. they are frozen (cryopreserved).
In our centre we have aápossibility to assess embryo quality also with aánew
non-invasive method by the Embryoscope.
It is a device ľ incubator - with aábuilt-in camera system
and it continuously for 24 hours daily monitors each single embryo in particular.
This device records the embryo condition each 20 minutes at various levels.
We can then link the pictures recorded into one continual video,
by which we can assess quality of particular embryos
and thus to select best quality embryos for transfer.
An important method of assisted reproduction in infertility treatment of couples
is pre-implantation genetic diagnosis,
which enables us to identify specific defects in genetic complement of each embryo
yet before its implantation into the uterus.
It means that one cell is removed from each single embryo.
For the purpose of cell removal the embryo must be appropriate
i.e. it must have at least 5 cells and must be of high quality.
This particular cell is then examined and this procedure
usually lasts from 24 to 36 hours.
As our centre is located on the premises of a specialized hospital for orthopaedic prosthesis
its operating rooms are at our disposal. There we can
perform endoscopic procedures in particular within one-day surgery.
We carry out mostly laparoscopies andáhysteroscopies, either for diagnostic
or surgical purposes. We also perform minor
surgical procedures through aátransvaginal approach.
In addition, within one-day surgery, we also provide aápossibility of
taking amniotic fluid, i.e. amniocentesis.
Urodynamic testing is an examination focused on assessing the presence or absence of
involuntary leakage of urine, i.e. urinary incontinence.
Based on its results we then determine an appropriate treatment for this disease.
Within prenatal care we provide complex ultrasound diagnosis including
3D and 4D examinations. In our centre we perform screening ultrasound
examinations repeatedly to provide
continual monitoring of foetal development.
3D and 4D examinations are performed with aástate-of-the-art device.
his procedure also involves the examination between the 11th and 14th week of gestation for assessing the nuchal
translucency and after the 20th week also a complex morphological diagnosis is provided.
GYN-FIV Family Day is aáregular meeting of the centre staff with the families,
who they helped to fulfil their dream to have a baby.
Each two years this event welcomes more and more members of the GYN-FIV family.
Children can enjoy fascinating activities, such as attractive inflatables,
face painting, pony riding, magic show or various games.
All participants are invited to enjoy delicious goulash, pancakes and aáfestive cake.
The atmosphere is amazing, heartful and relaxed, like in a family.
For the staff of the centre GYN-FIV this special day is always aágreat holiday.
It offers aápossibility to stop and look back with seeing complete happy families
to realize what aágreat sense this job brings.
Thanks to positive energy created by parents,
but mostly by their children, aánew overwhelming motivation arises for everyday routine work!
The Centre GYN-FIV prepares and organizes the International Congress
of Gynaecology andáAssisted Reproduction called VITANOVA.
äVITA NOVAô ........ äNEW LIFEô
opens the space for effective and quality knowledge improvement through mutual
exchange of experience, disseminating results of research and projects
in the field of gynaecology and assisted reproduction at the European level.
At the same time it allows personal meetings of colleagues and arranging cooperation
and enhancement of good relationships. These ambitions led
the centre GYN-FIV to the efforts of firm establishing of the educational event VITA NOVA
among reputable events for professional community.
Aánumber of assisted reproduction cycles has constantly been increasing.
In the field of reproductive medicine the company GYN-FIV cooperates
with more than 250 physicians - gynaecologists and urologists of Slovakia.
Aájoint-stock company GYN-FIV is
aáholder of Quality Certificate ISO 9001:2008,
aátraining workplace for the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava,
aácontract partner of all health insurance companies.
