Hi! I am Dr. John Koonz of Hearing and Balance Associates and I’d like to answer a question
frequently asked by many of my patients. “How long does a hearing aid typically last?”
The short answer to that question is it depends on how well you take care of it. If you do
a good job of cleaning them every night and you show up for your periodic 4-6 month follow-ups,
they should last you about 5-7 years.
Typically however, most patients are ready to upgrade their hearing aids well before
that. The reason for that is the industry is always changing, coming up with new cutting
edge technology usually about 2-3 years.
If you are ready to upgrade your hearing aid at Hearing and Balance Associates, we’ll
let you try some new technology out for about 30 days. If the patient decides to keep the
new hearing aids, we’ll offer a trade-up on their previous set of hearing aids.
I’m Dr. John Koonz and I look forward to seeing you.
