Hello everybody in this short video I'm going to go over the steps involved in completing
the power point chapter 3 guided project this is part B so usually I suggest that you download
the solutions and print them out however in this case I'm going to suggest that you don't
this this may use up a lot of toner on your printer so you may want to look at it but
I wouldn't suggest you printing it out I would however print out the instructions and since
I have already done this I am going to go straight to downloading the file which is
step number 1 step number 1 is downloading the file I know this takes a second for this to actually
get started here so as always what you'll need to do is to save your file and I see
it down here let's see if I can open it up Now in step 2 I need to save it but the first
thing I want to do is enable the editing so if you get this protected view warning you
can simply click enabling editing and that allows you to do any edits that you like I'm
going to save this document in my folder and now we are good to go Now be aware that this
is called the sorter view and the way you get to this there are several different ways
one of the ways is down here in the lower right there is a little button that says slide
sorter view and if you click to the button next to it it's the normal view so you can
toggle back and forth I'm going to leave it here because this is the way the program opens
up for step B for the guided project we are just going to leave it there and then I'm
going to proceed to step 3 the first thing we want to do is de-select the after timings
and we can discuss that in a little while what that means but I am going to head up
to the transitions tab I'm going to head over to the timing group and I'm going to click
I'm going to deselect the after timings button and I'm going to click apply to all that is
going to get rid of all the timings timings are used one of the ways you use them is when
you rehearse slides we just got rid of them so that was step 3 step 4 we are going to
change the slide size the way you do that is you head to the design tab head all the
way over to the right hand side hit slide size the little arrow next to it and click
wide screen and that widens the screen from 10 inches to 13.3333 and a quick note here
depending on how wide your monitor is your current monitor is some of these buttons may
not be visible you may have to find click the little arrow that is visible to you and
then you can get the slide size choices so sometimes when your monitor is squished you
won't see these icons right here you will just see the little arrows the little buttons
and you will have to click them to get the choices you need little tip there that completes
step 4 step 5 we need to reposition some of the object to fit the wide screen view now
this works better on the normal view so I'm going to click down here get back to the normal
view step 5A we are on the first slide we are going to right align the text box and
you want to be very sure that you hover you click on the object itself so it is outlined
with these square little dots and then you want to make sure you are on the outside where
you get the move pointer that is the little cross with the four little arrows and once
you do that you can just hold down your left your main mouse button and scroll over to
the right scroll over just drag it over to the right on step 5B slide 2 move the slide
title to the left to match the other slides once again make sure you are hovering over
the edge of this I'm going to move it closer to the edge because I can see that the other
slides have the titles closer to the edge not all the way to the edge but closer drag
the vertical button down to get to slide 7 right align both text boxes text box one do
this fast take your time try to get it right by the way this just happened to me I clicked
on what I thought was this text box down here but I actually clicked on the text box above
it and you can see I don't know but I hope you can see this on the video but this whole
area is outlined so I don't want to move this I want to move this bottom text box so I might
have to click a little bit lower in this text box to get the dots all the way around it
now I can move it taking my time there we go on slide 8 this is 5D slide 8 move the
text to the top to the left and move this to the left a little bit kind of match where
there other ones are and I am also going to write a line the text box this is what happens
when you switch to wide screen you may have to manually adjust some things so they look
right for your presentation lastly it says move the slide title to match all the other
slides making sure I have that move pointer moved it a little bit over there ok great
that completes step 5 step 6 were now going to use the presenter view to review your presentation
now please keep in mind or I should say keep well let me start this and then I will talk
about what you may or may not see on the video screen here the first thing you want to do
is head up to the slide show tab it's right about in the center and there is use the presenter
view now that is already clicked on but if it's not clicked on it's in the monitors group
if it's not clicked you can simply click it on and here is where it gets not tricky but
you just have to know what you're doing I actually do have two monitors you can't see
my monitors but I have two of them so I am going to click from the beginning that's going
to give me two different views I'm not 100% sure what you'll be able to see on the video
I'm assuming you will see the presentation view where I can see the slide and the upcoming
slide to the right and I have buttons on the bottom or you may actually be seeing the slide
it's self that the audience will see if you only have one monitor you're going to press
alt and then F5 not 5 but F5 it's one of the function keys up top alt and then F5 press
them at the same time you should be able to get the presentation view so now I need to
flip over my instructions here on the present presenter view hopefully you can see this
there are different choices one thing I can toggle through the slides if I'd like I can
keep going over and I can move to the different slides I can zoom in and zoom out it's a little
magnifying glass there allows you to sometimes zoom in and zoom out click it a few times
give it a shot I also want to check I also want to show you the view thumbnails so you
can see a thumbnail of all the slides it's a little icon it has three little squares
and a bigger square in the lower right if I click it there you go I had to click it
once it took me a minute it will show me all of the slides there we go it on my computer
it takes about ten seconds so click it one time then I can see all my slides once again
I am hoping you can see all nine slides if you can't you will have to do it yourself
and on your own computer you can try it lastly to get out of this view you simply hit esc
esc is the magic button to a majority of the features in Microsoft whenever you are in
something and you want to get out of it many times if you hit the esc button it will take
you out of it in this case I'd hit esc twice and it got me back out to my main my editing
area where I do all of my work and that completes step 6 I guess the last thing I will say about
that is get familiar with the tools open up slide shows try them get used to them because
you will probably have to do many slide show presentations in not only school but maybe
in the professional world moving on to step 7 in the slide show view were going to practice
using that navigation tools such as the keyboard shortcuts blank slides so what we're going
to do in 7A we are first of all hopefully your instructions say this but we need to
get back out to a slideshow so I am going to click off of this presenter view so you
can see just what the audience is going to see then I am going to right click or I say
I am going to use the right arrow on the keyboard to toggle through my presentation if I used
the left arrow it will go back so get used to playing with this if you hover towards
the left bottom of the screen you should see menu options appear at the bottom so one of
the things that you can do is you can use the little arrow buttons in the lower right
I'm not sure lower left I'm not sure if the video will show this but you can also toggle
through that way you can see all the slides little slide sorter view if you want to show
your audience all of your slides just click it another time or I should say come up here
and click the back arrow to get you back out you can press the n which will also advance
your slides p will go to previous slides if I type let's say the number 6 and enter it
will actually go to that slide I'm going to press 1 and just show you another one can't
hurt anything here not going to mess anything up so I can press n and if I know the slide
number 1 2 whatever slide 100 I can type in 100 it will go right to slide 100 it's a cool
little trick if I press b it will blank out the screen sometimes you want to talk to your
audience and you don't want to distract them by what is on your power point presentation
hit b again it will bring it back really handy feature folks I'm going to hit esc get back
out to my main editing view finally were going to prepare this presentation for kiosk looping
so one thing that I am going to do is in the transitions tab this is step, step 8 I'm going
to prepare the kiosk presentation with looping so I am going to hit transitions tab then
what I am going to do is select the after timing button and apply to all it's going
to add timing to everything this is crucial this is so things will be available then on
slides 1 and 7 it wants me to change the start on this now if you recalled in step in the
first project in project A we did something's to the text boxes well were going to get rid
of were going to change some of the animations so go up to the animations tab not on the
transitions tab the animations tab and change the start to after previous it's very important
that you do this and these guys I know have it on slide 7 I'm doing the same thing after previous now were going to head over
to the slide show tab this is step 8C and over here in the set up set up slide show
I want to click some choices here some of them actually may already be chosen for you
but I am just going to run through them says browse self at a kiosk uh loop continuously
is automatically checked not going to mess around with here and in here were going to
show all the slides you can select the slides you want to show but in this case they want
you to show them all and then for advanced for advanced slides you use the timing if
president if present but this is already selected so your all good there, there is nothing for
you to do there and finally click the appropriate monitor in this case it says automatic so
your fine just going to click ok then I am going to run through the presentation I just
clicked in the beginning you can see I'm not touching anything this is running though it
at a particular pace I'm not going to let it go through everything here I'm going to
stop it for essence of this video this is step 9 make sure you test your video and you
can see that it is going through the entire presentation I'm going to click esc to get
out of this so were pretty much done next I'm going to save the presentation if you
saved it in the beginning it shouldn't be a problem add a couple more b's there make
sure I can find the right file when I go to upload it lastly what you'll need to do is
upload this file going to look for it now keep in mind if yours gets caught in this
endless uploading file loop you may need to exit out of it and then re log back in so
then because what happens is you get logged out of the system it looks like you're in
the system but you're not I was logged in so now it says grade my project and if I did
everything right I hope I did it should give me a good grade if not I can go back and correct
it in this case I got a 100% but if anything was incorrect I could click this downward
arrow see what I did wrong I could go back to my file if it is still up or if it wasn't
up I could come over here to the downloads and download your latest submitted file and
then you can proceed to what you need to do well I hope this helps good luck on your guided
projects folks thank you
