HOST: Talking about ED can be difficult, but it’s
important to let your doctor know what’s happening. ED can be the symptom of serious
health problems, problems you might not know you have.
Here’s Doctor Paul with more these causes of ED.
PHYSICIAN: ED can happen for a number of different reasons.
Since *** begins with signals from the brain, sometimes the cause can start there
too. These are called non-physical causes and they can include:
Stress Anxiety
Fatigue Depression
Or, negative feelings toward your partner like anger or lack of interest.
While these non-physical factors can be blamed for ED, they only account for about ten to
twenty percent of all cases. That means most cases of ED can be blamed
on physical problems with the body. So, if you experience it, you should meet with your
doctor for an overall checkup. These physical problems can include:
Nerve damage from diabetes and multiple sclerosis Kidney Disease
High Blood Pressure can damage the blood vessels that are essential to an ***
A hormone imbalance And, problems with blood circulation
These problems can be serious if they aren’t treated. And, you may have one or some of
these problems and not even know it. So, talking to your doctor about ED isn’t just important
for a healthy sex life, but for a healthy life in general.
Some other physical causes for ED can include:
Side effects from medications, like blood pressure drugs, antihistamines, antidepressants
and diet drugs. Surgery for prostate and testicular cancer
can damage the nerves involved in an ***. Injury to the ***, spinal cord, prostate,
bladder and pelvis. These can cause nerve and muscle damage which can lead to ED.
The key to treating it is understanding what’s causing the problem. Treating the source of
ED will help get you back to your normal self. And, don’t be embarrassed to talk about
it with your doctor. I treat ED just about every day in my office. Trust me, you’re
going to feel much better about opening up, and getting it taken care of.
