Hi my name is Patrick, Patrick Mahaffey and I'm from Harrow, north west London.
Yeah I'm currently doing a voluntary project with Team v.
I was participating in Team v, the cohort of last year and I'm now a mentor for the current Team v leaders.
I suffered a severe brain injury in 2007 and since then I've found a lot of services have been great.
Like for example the transport, the tube in London has been phenomenal.
It's just been, generally I'd say the biggest problem has been a lack of understanding from people
because there is very little education on disability
and the barriers that young disabled people need to overcome to lead a normal life. 9 00:00:54,750 --> 00:00:60,000 My greatest achievement I think has been successfully completing the Team v project. 10 00:00:60,500 --> 00:00:67,500 Fifty leaders from all around the country, we were activating and initiating different campaigns 11 00:00:67,600 --> 00:00:74,000 on a variety of social issues and recruiting other young volunteers to activate those campaigns. 12 00:00:74,100 --> 00:00:77,500 And so successfully completing that and securing a scholarship from them. 13 00:00:81,000 --> 00:00:87,500 I think the advice that I'd give to young disabled people about thinking about what they want to do in the future 14 00:00:87,600 --> 00:00:94,600 is to try and keep as open a mind as possible.
