Today we will draw a Swarovski crystal swan.
We may start from the neck, why from the neck?
well, because we have to start somewhere!
I chose it because it is the highest part in the figure
but you could actually start anywhere.
We do the head with the beak.
We continue working on the neck and then the body.
I think it should be a little bit thinner and longer to look more
elegant, that´s better!
A tip I can give you to have a better shape and proportion
it´s to mark a dot wherever you want the lines to arrive
it´s your target.
And then you unite them... fooomm. Very good!
The neck, just a little bit thinner.
Like so.
I’ll move the dot slightly to the right because I see the body
a little bit long.
Now the shadow.
As it may vary a lot depending on the light, it doesn´t
need to be very exact.
Let´s draw some cuts on the glass.
Having the outline ready, it is time for the colors.
We may start with the black, that is for the darkest shades
and reflections.
I’ll use a combination of color, pencils and markers.
The markers are light and dark gray and the pencil is black.
The next step is to do the brightest reflections with the white.
If at the beginning you have your brightest and darkest
then it is easier to visualize your value scale,
and everything else that you do will have a tone in between
that is the rest won’t be as light or as dark.
You can use colors that are close to gray, such as bluish or greenish gray.
The complete list of materials is in the information bellow the video.
Some of these little squares may have changes in tones.
This is really fun to do!
We can do the shadow with a gray marker, leaving a blank space
in the middle... to then, give it light.
And we may also add a little color!
I like it how it is turning out.
We may also draw some reflections outside of the shadow.
We could leave it like this and I think it would look good,
but I want to give it a 3D effect and to accomplish this
I will do the paper in perspective, let´s use a ruler to assist
the shaky hand [laughs] and with a marker we do
parallel lines.
I don´t mind if they are not even because they’ll give the
illusion of wood.
This takes time and patience.
You are lucky I show this full speed...
otherwise I think you would have thrown a shoe to the screen!
Good!
Now without the ruler and with the pulse of a surgeon,
I will go over it.
Let´s correct some details and make as if the corner
of the paper was lifted.
For the final touches we can reinforce some highlights
with acrylic paint.
And... it´s ready!
