SOUNDS OF CLOCKS/ALARMS/ANIMALS/MUSIC AND VOICES SAYING "Wake Up!"
(CARTOON GRANNY VOICE) In the Spring, nature begins to wake up.
Animals come out of their dens, burrows, nests and up from underground.
From hibernation to hatching, spring's a wild time,
full of the energy of hungry critters looking for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
For the winner, it's carry out, a quick snack or a full buffet.
The buzz from the prairies to the rivers can be a rowdy racket or a symphony of sounds.
Around this time you can see Missouri's state bird, the bluebird, looking for berries.
Spring is also a time when other birds and ducks are migrating
through from the south to the north,
stopping for something to eat and drink
on their long journey homeward.
The feeding frenzy of spring is a great time to see animals on the move.
Up in the sky you can see lots of flying around;
down hugging the ground, reptiles sliding around;
and near the water, turtles and crayfish can be found.
If you go out and about quietly,
in your backyard or farther outdoors, you can hear all kinds of sounds
and see all kinds of action you might miss if you're making too much noise yourself.
Also in spring, plants begin slowly to awaken
and start coloring with greens, whites, pinks and more.
Animals that use plants bring their own colors too.
Although animals are on the move all day long,
the best times to see things are in the early morning and evening of spring.
So wake up with nature this spring
and go out and see what you can discover
outdoors! MUSIC
