Alaska
the last bastion
the final frontier
in those forests
one can find peace
country of myth and legends
country of solitary adventurers
of explorers
Indians and other romantics of the boreal tundra
it is here that I wanted to make my journey
after several years of international longboarding competitions
I was undertaking a complete reorganization of my goals
no more group travel in the subjective quest for sporting achievement
no more around the world trips without any real journey
I decided
with the agreement of my sponsors
to devote my career to explorational journeys
achievement through effort and discovery
the joy of earning your day
your evening rest
the basic idea is
to reconcile surfing with the spirit of adventure
incorporating walking
fishing
life surrounded by nature and the people we meet
hah it is huge, it is huge
August 1, 2013 I flew to alaska
on the island of Kodiak I met Harry Dodge
a retired trapper who has lived away from civilization for over 35 years
we are in the process of looking for bears on Kodiak
for more than 10 days I went with him
to the heart of the Wildlife Refuge
a unique place with no roads
no inhabitants
no buildings
to meet the most sumptuous of the alaskan bears
I think a bear has passed by here
after 30 days touring through the territory
I am ready for the second part of the adventure
Laurent Gadenne photographer and cameraman Remi Kilikili
two longtime friends
