Hello, and welcome to the special season 4 finale of "Is it a Good Idea to Microwave This?" I'm your host, Jory Caron.
Today, we've got something very special. Check this out...
It's a working Apple laptop, donated by our very own Riley McIlwain. And I said it was working, but here's the kicker... There's the apple, but it's not really working!
So, it's going into my microwave. So, it folds up really easily, and that makes it really easy to stick it in there!
Jory: Is it a good idea to microwave this?
Let's find out! Here at the Jory Caron Laboratory, safety is our number-one concern. That's why we hide behind this giant tin foil shield. It's to protect our nuts, because nobody likes roasted nuts!
They also don't like the black lung and blindness, I think.
Jon: Blindness is pretty bad!
That's why we have these masks and these goggles. So, let's go in the laboratory.
Jon: I love the laboratory!
Jory: Me, too!
Jon: Let's live here!
But I don't love it quite as much as I love Lacey!
Jon: It JUST fits! Look at that!
Jory: Oh, and I must mention that I removed the battery from it. I removed the battery!
Jon: The Power Mac laptop- it fits conveniently inside your GE microwave! Thanks, Steve Job, you're a pal!
Jory: Okay, so how long should I put that in there for?
Jon: It's a G-4, right?
Jory: Four minutes, plus another minute for good luck- five minutes.
Jon: So, for those of you who didn't watch the video I posted four months ago, our good friend Riley McIlwain donated this laptop to us after discovering it would cost almost $700 to get it repaired.
That's too much!
Jon: And for $700, you can just buy another laptop!
Jory: Maybe not a Mac laptop.
Jon: There's not even enough room in there for the thing to rotate, so it's just kinda burning in place... One minute left!
Jon: Will the Apple laptop be able to have a software upgrade and escape, or will Steve Jobs release yet another product update, forcing millions of people to throw away their old computers?
Jon: The final experiment of season 4 comes to a close!
Jon: Time to upgrade your hardware! But first, let's inspect the old.
Jon: The Apple laptop actually seems to have fared quite well.
Jory: It is pretty warm.
Jon: It's very toasty, but these keys...
Jory: Ow! Actually, it's coming right off on my glove!
Jon: That's really hot, actually.
Jory: Yeah, it's a really hot laptop. Oh, that side kinda melted out. You may be wondering, is it a good idea to microwave an Apple laptop?
Jory: Basically, we took an almost-working laptop and made it definitely never work again.
Jory: I mean, we destroyed the keyboard. It's really hot. I'm guessing in there, there's a lotta fried stuff. And that means that it is a good idea!
Jon: Yay!
Jory: That goes right in there. And that's it for "Is it a Good Idea to Microwave This?", season 4.
Jon: Aw, it was such a good time, man!
Jory: It WAS a good time! I'm your host, Jory Caron. Behind the camera, Jonathan Paula.
Jon: Hello!
Guys, I'll see you probably for the season recap, and then, after that, I'll see you for season 5. 'Cause I'm goin' nowhere!
Jon: Fast! 'Cause you've got lung cancer, so you're not running anywhere!
Jory: Goodbye!
*end credits play*
*funeral montage music plays*
Jory: We have our GE turntable microwave oven. I named her "Lacey," because she's petite and kinda cute. I think so!
*iPod explodes*
