It takes the train about two and-a-half minutes to reach the Artesia Station.
The train crosses four intersections: Compton Blvd, West Myrrh,
Alondra Blvd,
and Greenleaf Blvd. All of these intersections are protected by
quad gates. A quad gate completely seals the intersections and stops cars from
proceeding into it.
If you are driving your car across these intersections, do not stop on the
tracks.
If for some reason your car gets stuck on the tracks, and you cannot drive it
forward or backwards off the tracks, and you feel an accident is imminent
get out of your car and run towards safety.
We also need pedestrians and bicyclists
to wait behind the limit line, until the train has passed. Do not walk across
the streets, or bicycle across the street if you hear the bells and signal
games start to come down.
We also have many people
illegally walking along active union pacific tracks, which are located next to
the Blue Line tracks. This is very dangerous and the fine for walking along
railroad tracks is $500.00.
As the train approaches the Artesia station our operators are looking to
make sure that the pedestrians are waiting behind the gates,
as the train enters the station.
It is illegal, to enter or exit a station when the bells and signals are on.
You must look both ways and pay close attention to the signals when you enter or
exit the station.
There are three hundred and eighty parking spots at the Artesia Station.
