Hi. I'm Shaun Schaefer, on behalf of Expert Village, and today I'm going to show you how
to pack up your drum kit, efficiently. Now that we got our symbols packed away, their
out of the way, the stick bag is packed up, theirs no sticks or anything laying around.
Now what I like to do is, instead of packing each drum away one by one, I physically break
down every drum, and get them off their stands. It just makes it easier to go and actually
pack away the drums, in a later step. So, what I do, I pack down, I break down my floor
tom, and some floor tom's need a drum key, some do not. Most of them just have a little
wing nut, or little wing screw or something. I do this.
OK, now I'm done with the floor tom, what I do, is I actually go to the rack tom, and
typically your snare drum is bigger than your rack tom, but in my case, their the same size,
and there's another reason too. So what I do, I take my rack tom and set it on top of
my floor tom. Lot of people say that's not good for the drums, it hurts the head and
stuff. I don't know, I've been playing for lots of years, and that's how I've done it,
every time I've played a gig, so I could be in the wrong, but it's the most easiest for
me. So now that I have the floor tom and the rack tom break down, I do the snare drum next.
What I do is go ahead and loosen it, and the other reason I don't put the snare drum, or
put the rack tom on top of the snare drum. Snare drum seems to me like a little more
fragile drum, so I put this one on top here, it's probably not a big deal, and I leave
the snare's and the bottom head facing up, so nothings going to sit on top of that. Now
, as you can see, we're pretty, we're getting really finished, really quickly, so let's
go ahead, and take a look at our next step in packing up our drum kit.
