Hello my name is Jason.
I live in Jerusalem
now i'm a student in UlpanOr
I'v been studing here for about a month
with a couple of little breaks
Basically in a month we've gone from
me knowing absolutely no Hebrew
to speaking in sentences. paragraphs
future tense. past tense. and I'm loving it so far.
What's great about the ulpan is that it dosn't use traditional teaching methods.
You don't sit there conjugating verbs and filling out tables
I went. he went. he she or it went they went you went etc..
You learn in by actually speaking it
and if you make small mistakes you make small mistakes
but the point is really to get your message across
and to be able to talk to individuals who you might meet on the street or friends.
What's also interesting is that i think i learned more in my first day in ulpan
then i learned in my 5 week arabic program.
I mean it's kind of depressing to be quite honest
It's above and beyond any language class i've ever taken before
and it really just gets you speaking and gets you understanding the language.
