Hi, I'm style expert Alison Deyette and welcome to A Secret Worth Sharing presented by the
Playtex Bra Makeover series. Today I am going to help you care for your bras. As the most
delicate of delicate, bras require special care to keep their shape. Let's be reasonable
here, who has time to handwash their bra after every wear? I have the convenience of the
washing machine without stretching and ruining the well needed intimates. Unless you were
sweating profusely bras are like your jeans and you can wear them two to three times before
washing. Before you wash your bras, hook the backs or use a lingerie bag so that they don't
snag on other clothes. Use a mild detergent when you wash your bras, stronger detergents
can deteriorate the fabric and band. When they come out of the wash, remold the cups
with your hands to help maintain the shape. A bra like this, Playtex's Perfectly Smooth
Underwire, keeps it's shape. Ladies, I cannot stress enough to always always air dry your
bras. High temperatures of the dryer will prematurely break down the fabrics of your
bra and lead to stretching.
Now it's time to store them properly, treat them well and they will last longer. Don't
fold your padded bras in half, you'll only damage the cups and kill off your favorite
bra before it's time. If you have the space, use drawer dividers to place them vertically.
If you don't have the drawer space, stack your bra on top of one another so that the
cups sit on each other. Or the easiest way is to hang them on a j hook hanger. If you
spot puckering or pulling in the lining of your bra, it's time for a new one, go shopping!
