Alright we have talked about lots of different aspects of the saxophone and now for a little
bit of exercise and practice on your horn to get real familiar with your horn you are
going to need to know the chromatic scale. The chromatic scale is basically going through
every single note on the saxophone or the keyboard. You can play the chromatic scale
with any instrument. You are going to need to play every note, every sharp, and every
flat. An easy range to start in on the saxophone will be the D chromatic scale. The name D
chromatic scale indicates what note you start on. I am going to pick the low D to start
on and I will just run through this chromatic scale with you on my fingers here, you have
D, E flat, E, F, F sharp, G, G sharp, A, B flat, B, C, C sharp and D with your octave
key again, come back down and that is the whole chromatic scale. I will just run through
it real fast so you basically know what it sounds like. You are touching every single
note in the whole universe. Here we go. And that's your chromatic scale, practice that
a few times.
