SPEAKER: Ultimately, this building for us is about making sure that young people have
a new home, have the ability to take on new paths, and it doesn’t matter for us how
you label a young person. It doesn’t matter if that young person is defined in a certain
way when they come here. For us at UTEC, when you walk into the doors for the first time,
we will say we will never give up on you. And so for us, this building, is really at
the end of the day, a reflection of how we feel about the young people who walk in here,
because we know that they deserve that. GOVERNOR: I am delighted to be with you here
tonight, as you celebrate the grand opening of this building, by the way, you deserve
this building. Hope is an extraordinary thing, it has a power all its own, it isn’t accounted
for by tangible things necessarily, but it never disappoints, it never disappoints. It’s
energy for people who are in hopeless situations, it’s food for the soul, it’s an enabler.
So again, to Denise, to Cynthia, to all of you young people who make UTEC your home and
bring your stories here, take your stories out, as well; because all around this city
and all around this commonwealth, and this country, people are in search for a reason
to hope, and you are that reason to hope. God Bless you all.
