I actually committed to business as a major
for about a year but I tried that and it was
a very interesting and i enjoyed everything that I learned
at the college of business but then I didn't feel complete or really
like I enjoyed it I did want to be Anthropologist
for a while that was also interesting to me
and I took a couple of anthropology classes I tried
political science that was also
very enjoyable but it just didn't really suit me
and ultimately I found out that I really just have a passion for working
with people and specially youth so and that's why I chose sociology
I wanted to be a technician at first but then
as I talked to my mentors and people who were
guiding me they showed me a different path
they asked me if I wanted to be just a technician for dealership or a
technician for a big name company
So after thinking and having them jog my memory
I realized I didn't want to stay as just a technician and work on cars the rest of my life.
I saw that more as a hobby so I looked into the field of engineering
Mechanical engineering quickly drew my attention
before I even graduated high school I knew I wanted to be an engineer
it was pretty easy just had to follow the steps in how to get there
set goals and everything to make sure that achieve and
get my degree.
I started upgrading computers, building computers on my own just to gain my own
experience once I attended NIU. I majored in computer science.
from there I learned different programming
languages, software/hardware and from that point
I received an internship, and from there
that's how I started out with computer science
I started as a Business Administration major
as a freshman I decided to take that path
but once I transferred to NIU I had the
option to join a lot of organizations and
in that manner I acquired my internship through career services
and I saw the impact our counselors
make on these students so I really really want to do that
now and this is why I changed
and incorporated sociology
in my minor so I
can do the same thing and help other
students make a change in their lives
