Creating a new course in myBTEC Step 2: select course units
myBTEC inserts the name of the Qualification you selected. You can see your Course status
is draft. Give your course a name that you can find
easily in a list. You can clone the course at any time and you'll be asked to give it
a different name. Set the start and end dates for delivery of
the course. The Qualification start date and the Qualification and Certification end dates
are listed for you. The orange help icon will tell you exactly what these dates mean.
The 'course structure' shows you rules governing the units you can choose for your selected
qualification. You can also download the general specification information relating to your
chosen qualification. You'll see the mandatory units for the qualification
are already selected and appear at the top of the table.
myBTEC keeps a tally of the credits or guided learning hours you've added to your course.
The size of the qualification you are creating is highlighted.
The What If function allows you to see how the unit you have selected would work in a
different size of qualification. Click on the unit title to download and view
the unit specification. Optional units can be added or removed at
this stage of the creating a course process. This list may also include any Meeting Local
Needs units your centre is approved to offer. Check the units you've chosen against the
course structure at any time to check they are a valid combination.
You can save and exit at any time. When you're happy with your course, click save and continue
to move to Step 3.
