Hi this is Deb Hadley
In this quick video we're going to show you how to withdraw student.
Starting from the Wake Tech homepage,
log into Eagles Nest
Enter your User ID and password
Your start screen Eagles Nest looks like this
on the left hand side of the page
you want to look for the link that says forms. Once you click on
forms, Eagles Nest returns a page that looks like this.
It is a list of all forms either alphabetically
or by department. To withdraw student
you'll want to scroll toward the bottom of the page to the section titled
Student Services. On the Student Services form page
scroll to the bottom until you reach Registration and Records
then look for form 1078 student course
withdrawal form and this is what you'll see.
You'll see the student course withdrawal form and it will automatically be
populated with your name
and your email address. At this point
what you need to do enter the students' Wake Tech
ID number. Entering the students Wake Tech ID number will return a form
that's already been populated
with student identifying information. At this point
you need to enter several additional pieces of data.
You need to enter information about the course including the course prefix
the course number, and the section number. From the drop down menu
you need to choose the length of the course. Then you need to enter the students'
last date of attendance.
Finally you'll need to assign a grade of either a W
a WP or a WF. If the student is withdrawing
on or before the sixty percent point of the semester
you will assign a W. If the student withdraws
after the sixty percent point in the semester you'll need to assign either a
WP
for student who was passing at the time of withdrawal
or a WF for student who was failing at the time
of withdrawal. Please check with your department head to see if your
department has specific guidelines
regarding when and how to use the WP or WF designation.
Then at the bottom of the form you need to tell us
the reason that the student is being withdrawn. If you do not see the
reason listed on the buttons here you may pick
other and then type in the information necessary to complete the form.
If the student is being withdrawn because they have violated
the attendance policy than you would simply check that box.
Once you've done that, all you need to do next
is click the submit button. You
are finished with this process. Once the registrar's office has received the
electronic
withdrawal you will receive a confirmation email.
W e recommend that instructors create a folder
in their Outlook - with the course number and have a file to keep
all student withdrawal forms. If you've received your official rosters for the semester
it's important that you go ahead and enter the students withdrawal date
on that roster as well. And that's it.
Now you know how to successfully withdraw a student from your course.
If a student comes and tells you that they want to withdraw,
before you automatically do so, it's always a good idea to stop
and have a conversation with the student about the need to withdraw.
If there's something that we can do to help the student remain in the class
as long as it's within the rules and regulations and we can do it
we try to. If you need guidance on this please check with your department head.
