A return to extreme cold weather will occur this week, the week of February 3-7th. Something
that has not occurred since early December.
Snow and blowing snow will reduce visibilities to less than a mile at times. Winds could gust to as high as 50 mph out of Bad Rock
Canyon near Kalispell and Hellgate Canyon near Missoula.
A return to overnight low temps below zero expected across all of western Montana and Central Idaho.
The record low temperature for Butte this
week is -44, set back in 1989 and 1982. The forecast low for Wednesday night is -28 with
a wind chill of -40. High temperatures Wednesday and Thursday will struggle to reach zero.
Overnight lows will be at least 10 below zero in Missoula Tuesday and Wednesday night possibly
reaching record lows.

Prepare for the cold, especially since wind chills will be 20-30 degrees below zero Tuesday through Thursday.
