ANCHOR: Students at RIT now have a new place to get cozy and hit the books.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today
for RIT’s new American Sign Language & Deaf Studies Community Center.
The center will offer students lessons in sign language.
The school says it will also serve as a place for hard-of-hearing students to gather and hold activities.
BILL DESTLER: And this particular center will allow us to bring the deaf community
and the hearing community together even more easily than in the past
here at RIT for the benefit of our entire community.
ANCHOR: There are more than 1,300 deaf and hard-of-hearing students enrolled (at NTID)
which is located on the RIT campus there.
