Steve: Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect. Today, we’re going to show you how to change the
drawer slide rail on your refrigerator. It’s a pretty easy job. All we’re going to need
is a good thick bladed putty knife and a Philips screwdriver. Let me show you how we do it.
Now the first step in this repair will be to remove the shelf that holds the deli pans,
so we’ll take the deli pan out and set that aside. Next we’ll lift up on that shelf
and remove the whole assembly, so we can set that on a suitable work surface to do the
repair.
Now to remove the slide rail there are three tabs that fit into elongated slots in the
side of the shelf bracket. There is also a little locking tab on the front one that we
need to depress that enough, so that the host rail will slide backwards. Now with the aid
of a putty knife in that area should release that tab enough, don’t want to put too much
force on that we break anything slide it back and it will drop out.
Next we’ll remove the wheel and transfer that to the new side rail, and when installing
the wheel make sure that the open end is the end that we inserted the screw into first
and then be careful not to over tighten it, it should bottom out, but we don’t want
to over tighten it and crack the plastic.
Now we align those three tabs up in the openings and push the whole assembly forward. Once
it locks in place, we’re ready to reinstall the shelf in the refrigerator. Now that the
repair is complete, we’ll reinstall the shelf, make sure it engages in both sides,
reinstall the pan, check for proper operation, and our repair is complete.
We told you it was an easy job. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your repair.
