The most elegant looking car to debut at the Geneva Motor Show is the Mercedes S-Class
coupe. Just look at it, it's sooo beautiful.
The car is about 9cm shorter than the normal S-Class and the roof is 9cm lower too. This
plus the lack of a b pillar give it a more sporty look as does this nice integrated spoiler
at the back while you get the pin grille similar to that of the A-Class up at the front.
The loveliness these of the S-Class coupe continues on the inside. It's very similar
to the Saloon but just as that little bit extra flamboyance... There's the three spoke
steeringheel, diamond-quilted seats available in brighter colours such as Bengal Red and
Porcelain White. There's the 'touchpad' controller from the new C-Class, which lets you make
smartphone-style gestures to control the major infotainment functions w while there's also
a heads up display and standard panoramic glass roof which can become opaque or transparent
at the touch of a button.
As well as in car tech there's some new gadgets to help with the way this car drives, such
as a development of the magic ride system know as active curve. It can read the road
ahead and spots bends - and tilts the struts to brace the car against cornering forces...
And while I'm here I should point out it's fine for rear passengers... apart from the
getting out bit.
This car is the S500 version and will go on sale for around £100K in Novemeber. It has
a 4.7-litre twin turbo V8 with around 450hp -- obviously there will be other engines,
including a S63 AMG and maybe even S65 V12.
