Alright, so tell us your name I’m Cailyn Doyle great,
and where are you from Cailyn from South Florida and how long have you been here at WinGate
almost seven weeks. great and what brought you here?
I was extremely disrespectful to my parents and was doing some drugs
ok, and so what were some of the challenges that you encountered here at
WinGate
when you first got here. at first I didn’t feel I needed to be here,
and I felt like my problems weren’t
important enough to be sent away, but then when I came here I realized they were and it was kind of hard to
adjust
at first, being home sick was definitely a big factor but you get over it after the first two weeks
ok, now so what have been some of the highlights of your stay here at WinGate
probably the hikes because I thought they were a lot of fun,
and also being able to like step back and like
kind of relax and look at like reflect on who you were and how your acting,
it’s kind of like a second chance here. So what are you learning about yourself
I’m learning that, I’m more then I portrayed myself to be at home,
that I’m better than what I was pretending to be
ahh, and tell us a little bit more about that kind of explain that a little bit
well at home I would put up a friend that I was,
that I was a bad a** and stuff, and I thought it was cool to smoke weed
or it was cool to do certain things, but then like
I learned that that was just like when I came here and I didn’t have any of that to do
and I obviously couldn’t get a hold of it, I learned that
I forgot what I was going to say . That, you were putting on a show,
yeh that I was putting on a show, I was pretending to be something I’m not
and that that’s also what added to my stress and anger and animosity towards my parents and myself
ok, very good important lessons huh? mmhmm and how have the staff and your therapists and
your peers helped
you in those lessons. The staff has helped me, well my therapist has helped me like dig
deep into like my wounds and stuff
that I’ve gotten from let’s say my parents and other traumatic events that have happened
and my peers have helped me by learning like
different like I can’t control everybody and like not everybody’s going to act
how I want them to act, or there not going to obviously, and kind of
like I don’t know but I’ve adjusted to how they are and they’ve adjusted to how I am
and the staff has helped me, just the same way the therapist has,
like just help me like deal with like to better cope with my feeling in a healthy way. very good, important lesson,
and so what kind of advice would you give future
willow walkers who come to Wingate, future students
To definitely stay present as much as possible,
even though it may be hard at times, to get what you can out of this program,
to make each day count and to not waste your time here because you were sent here for a reason
and that reason you will find out or you already know.
hmm, very good, very good, so you healed some things with your parents
oh yes, for sure, to definitely work on things with your parents,
and just here is like a time to like reflect on who like
how your actions have affected other people besides yourself.
oh, excellent, that you so much for sharing
no problem umm and you’re an awesome young lady and we wish you a lot of success, thank you
thank you
