Warning. This is going to be a rant video. As you can see from the title: this video
is about Pottermore. I am here to tell you today
that I am sick
and tired
of people acting like the sorting process in Pottermore
is,
somehow, "the real truth",
because JK Rowling is involved. I mean, really. Just because
JK Rowling had something to do with creating this website, does not mean that any internet
quiz can analyze your brain the way the sorting hat would have.
I'm just saying. So I know that all of us
Harry Potter fans
- and other people - probably have a little bit of every house inside of them. Every
single person has some intelligence, and some ambition,
and some loyalty,
etc. So, when you get sorted into a house, it will probably resonate with you
in some way. But really,
you are the person who knows you the best. And if you don't feel like you know yourself maybe
ask your friends, because your friends will know you better than this stupid
website thing that probably just sorts you into some house randomly
I am a huge supporter of self-sorting. Like, I think it's awesome.
I think from the books you can get a pretty clear idea of what these houses are about, and I think if
you know yourself well you should be able to
sort yourselves somewhere. For example: I think I'm a Ravenclaw. This is not
necessarily because I think I'm intelligent, or nerdy, or whatever. It's
mostly because I really value knowledge. Like, I think it's the most
important thing out there.. and,
also,
I judge people who are stupid.
and
I get really annoyed by people who are stupid. So that is a really
important part of my personality, while
being brave, or loyal, or ambitious - any of those other qualities - are way less important to
me. Which is why I think I'm a Ravenclaw. I don't care what Pottermore's gonna
tell me, because I will still be a Ravenclaw. And obviously there are a couple
of things that are not extremely Ravenclaw-esque
about me. For example,
we were discussing this at LeakyCon, and we sort of concluded that Ravenclaws aren't extremely
out there. They're not as opinionated, maybe I should say: they're
not as openly opinionated as maybe Slytherins and Gryffindors would be. In
that sense
I'm not super Ravenclaw, but still.. I love learning, I think knowledge is awesome.
Those things say a lot about me. I think I would definitely be a Ravenclaw.
Unless, of course, the sorting hat looked into my brain and found something there
that I haven't foun yet. Which, I'm willing to admit, is a possibility.
But just because JK Rowling
helped create some website, doesn't mean that website knows your brain. Which was pretty
much my point.
I guess. And a side note
to that. I'm also so done with people who sort themselves into two houses.
Slytherpuffs and Gryffinclaws, and stuff like that. No.
Just, no. The sorting hat picks one house. And I know that you think
that picking two says more about your real personality, but the sorting hat would still have picked one.
So.
Just pick one! I know you might hate me a little bit now,
because I...
said things that you don't agree with. But that's ok. I would like you to tell me what
house you're in, and why, anyway. And if you're not sure what house you're in,
and you would like to know - also if you wouldn't like to know - I will get some people
together
and we will sort you. Tune in next time for the
"why accio is the only right way to pronounce it" discussion.
Minus the discussion.
Cuz there's only one right way.
Nox.
