Hi I'm Li Evans and I'm author of Social Media Marketing: Strategies for Engaging in Facebook,
Twitter and Other Social Media. I'm back with the 45 Social Media Insights in 45 Days which
highlights a chapter in the book. Each chapter gives you 3 tips in 1 to 2 minutes that you
can view at SMMarketingBook.com so you can decide whether or not you want to buy the
book or just take the tips and use them in your strategy. I'm going to hope you that
you buy the book!
So with that lets take a look at chapter 40, which is "YouTube is the 2nd Largest Search
Engine." Well technically its not a search engine. It's a site where a lot of people
do a lot of searches. In fact they do more searches on YouTube than they do on Yahoo,
Bing or Ask, so that makes it the 2nd largest site that searches are done on. So a lot of
people consider it somewhat of a search engine.
What are the three tips I have for you? Number one is "You Have To Think Beyond That Whole
Viral Aspect", when it comes to social media and videos. A lot of times success doesn't
come from viral, going viral, a lot of times people don't understand how to take advantage
of becoming viral. So basically when you are using videos, think beyond the viral, think
about hitting your niche market, think about giving them something that they really, really
want and really, really need.
The next tip I have for you in this chapter is "Video is Much More Engaging than Text".
Think about it this way. If you are trying to learn how to do the two step, how would
you rather learn? Watching a video, or reading the dance steps on a page or seeing pictures
of the dance step. You'd rather look at video. It's much more engaging. And that's the way
with almost anything you want to demonstrate with a product or a service or how to use
it. Video is much more engaging.
The third tip, and final tip for this chapter that I have is remember that "Videos Appear
in Search Engine Results". Google, Yahoo, Bing, they are all serving up video clips
in their search engine results when people are looking for particular key words. So if
you are selling some kind of service, you want to make sure that your videos are optimized
for that service so that they appear in the search engine results.
So I go into that and a whole lot more in this chapter 40 about YouTube is the Second
Largest Search Engine. That's in the book Social Media Marketing: Strategies for Engaging
in Facebook, Twitter and Other Social Media. You can see this video and many other videos
at SMMarketingBook.com. I'm Li Evans, author of the book and I'll have more of these videos
for you tomorrow, so stop back and make sure you check out the next recap.
