This next clip is an interesting one. Because it's whether or not you think you can take
your convention on the road. Be aware that doing something like that is a very long-term
commitment. You're certainly not going to know that at the end of your first convention
or possibly even the end of your second convention. That's somewhere down the road. The first
thing you need to do is research. You need to look at your subject matter and look around
the country or even if, depending on your state, other counties within your state and
decide whether or not someone else is doing the same thing you are. Certainly the one
thing you don't want to do is butt heads with someone who's doing that already. But look
at the areas, find out where this might be popular, get good concentrated areas. You
might want to take it to places like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, somewhere out in the
Midwest. But certainly it has to be viable, because if you think that you're going to
spend money doing it locally, you're going to spend a lot more money doing it on the
road. You also have to make sure that your celebrities, who are those people who are
really going to drive the attendance and the vendors at those road shows, are going to
be willing to go on the road and do what they did for you elsewhere. So be aware it's a
very long term goal and commitment.
