Okay just like we have different playing sounds on the drum itself there is also different
zones on other surfaces like that cowbell. A common surface on the bell for a little
bit of a embellishment is the mouth of the cow bell with the shoulder of the stick. It
is a little bit of a lower pitch more open sound. Now the center of the cowbell with
the bead is a little bit of a thinner sound, little bit higher in pitch and again just
moving to the edge of the drum just moving to the edge of the cowbell it is a little
bit more high in pitch and a more of a thin sound. You can also explore the same zones
with the bead and also the shoulder of the stick. You are going to notice if you are
playing with the shoulder there is a little bit more surface area, a little more of the
stick contacting the cowbell to get a bigger sound. Now I play a little passage that explore
some zones on the cowbell to show you a little bit of what you can do with something like
this.
