Mrgrmrmmmbl! (Welcome to Blizzard Tutorial)
Hello and thank you for watching!
In this video, we will show you how to
resolve a Battlenet account lock.
Each chapter of the video can be accessed directly by clicking
the links in the table of contents currently shown on screen.
Blizzard knows how frustrating being the victim of account theft is.
This is why we are actively taking measures to protect
Battlenet accounts from unauthorized access.
One of these measures is the automated lock of a user’s account
when a change in the access pattern is detected.
If your account has been locked,
it is essential to ensure your computer is secure
before making any attempt to unlock it.
Performing a virus scan is a good start.
For more information about account security,
head to battle dot net and click on
“Protect Your Account” at the bottom of the page.
You will most likely discover the security lock
of your Battlenet account as you read the error message
displayed when trying to log in to a game.
In Diablo III, you can unlock your account directly
by entering your secret answer in the game client or
by resetting your password from the battlenet website.
StarCraft 2 will redirect you to the Battlenet website
to change your password and unlock your account.
In either case, to be on the safe side, make sure to
check your computer security prior to removing the lock.
We just arrived home and are eager to continue
our adventures in World of Warcraft.
As usual, we start the game, enter our password
and hit the “Login” button.
Wait… what’s that message?
It looks like our account has been locked
by Blizzard for security reasons…
Weird.
Let’s click that link and see what happens.
We are taken to a Battlenet page stressing
the importance of securing our computer.
Amongst other things,
we run some anti-virus and antispyware scans.
Once this has been done,
we change our email account password for good measure.
Now this has been taken care of,
all we have to do is reset our password
which will automatically unlock our account.
The link under step three leads us to the password reset page.
We fill out all the required information and click on “Continue”.
For ownership verification purposes, we are required
to provide our Battlenet security answer or
the first six digits of one of our game keys.
We decide to try answering the security question.
That’s a bingo!
As explained on the page, an email to finalize
the password change has been sent to us.
Once we’ve found it, we click on the link which opens
a web page where we can type our new password.
Hm…yes…
Hm…yes… This one should be secure.
We type it in again to confirm and click on “Continue”.
Success!
Finally!
Finally! We can play again.
If you forgot your Battle.net account secret answer and
do not have any game authentication key at hand,
you will have to send a picture of your ID
to Blizzard Customer Support so they can
verify ownership and unlock your account.
We remember that the Account Recovery Webform
allows us to send Blizzard a picture of our ID
even with no access to our account.
On battle.net,
On battle.net, we click on the search field,
type in “Account Recovery”
type in “Account Recovery” and press Enter.
We click on “Account Recovery Webform” in the suggested links.
On the next page, we click on “Begin Account Recovery”.
After filling all the required fields, we click on “Continue”
and choose “I don’t have any of this information”.
After clicking “Continue”, we finally reach the form
where we can attach the picture of our ID.
We select and add a clear picture of our ID that we previously took
with our mobile phone and transferred to our computer.
In the comment field, we explain that
we would like to have our account unlocked.
Finally, we submit the form by clicking on “Continue”.
That’s it! Now we just have to wait for Blizzard to contact us
by email once they have processed our request.
As a Battlenet account lock is a security measure,
there is no guarantee that it won’t happen again.
To prevent it, first and most important: you should keep
your computer and account details secure at all times.
You can also attach a Battle.net Authenticator
provides the highest level of security for your account.
The mobile version is available for free
for Android and iOS smart phones.
A great security option to monitor your account
is the free Battle.net SMS Protect service.
Once it has been activated, you will receive text messages
about changes made to your account.
Should your account ever get locked again,
it also offers a more convenient way to unlock it.
You can also try to call Customer Support
and use the Interactive Voice Response system.
If the phone number you are calling from gets recognized and
is identical to the one registered on your Battle.net account,
one of the options will let you unlock your account.
We hope the information in this video helped you understand how to
address account locks and how to get back into the game.
Thanks for watching, good luck, and have fun!
