Hey girl, thanks for meeting me.
No problem, it's been awhile, so I was glad when you called. How are you?
Good, really good, but I actually called to get your advice on a big decision.
Oh, well what is it? Everything ok?
Yes, everything is fine, I just have been thinking lately, and I might want another
baby.
Awe that's great! So, what's the big decision.
Well, I'm (whispers) 40. I don't exactly have the same options that I did when I was younger.
What do you mean same options? Of course you do! What are you worried about?
Well, I just have been reading online...
(interrupts) Well there's your first problem.
Oh hush. Anyways, I was reading that getting pregnant after 35 has it's...difficulties.
Ok, like what? You're going to pass your menopause to your baby?
Very funny, it was more like a huge risk for the mother because of the stress that comes
with pregnancy. As well as, there is a higher risk of the baby having disabilities like
down syndrome.
(Annoyed) You do realize my mom had me when she was 40 right?
That's exactly why I'm worried.
Oh please! I turned out just fine. And my mother was 42 when she had my brother!
Really?
Well yea! She did well through both pregnancies.
That makes me feel better.
You didn't feel like your mom missed out on a lot growing up because she was older?
No way, it wasn't really any different than anyone else. I will say it gets harder as
we get older because I worry more.
Oh, I didn't think about that.
Yes, but that is always there. And it can be good to have that sense of reality in our
lives. Really makes you not take any moments for granted.
I see. (Lightens the mood) So you're sure everything is ok with you? No special needs
or weird bones?
Actually, now that you mention it....
Oh gosh.
I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Go have your baby.
I think I will.
