Hey guys. It's Andrea Travillian from TakeASmartStep.com. I know very frequently I tell you guys to
go check out the fees on your mutual funds. So I thought I would show you how you can
do that.
The first way is to actually go to your fund company's website and download the prospectus
or the summary prospectus and it should have the information in there.
Another very easy way to get all the information for all of the funds in one place is go to
MorningStar.com. I highly recommend if you're doing any investing on your own or even just
want to kind of keep tabs on what's going on with your financial planner, MorningStar.com
is the place to be. They have free accounts, paid accounts. I highly recommend them. I
will put a link in the description below so that you can go to a review I did on them
just so you can see it.
Anyway, what I wanted to show you here is how you can very quickly see what your expenses
are. So come up here to Quote, type in the ticker symbol for your mutual fund and I just
randomly picked these so I could show you. So you type it in and then click Expense.
Scroll down a little bit and it has -- this section right here are all your loads. So
your initial load, they have an initial load of 4.25 percent and then any deferred or redemption
fee loads.
Then right below that, you have your other fees and expenses. So this would be your annual
expenses. So the actuals and the maximums that they have, your actual is really what
you want to see from most recently but then always look at what their maximum is so you
can see your worst case scenario.
These are the two important things to look at. If you want to look at total cost projections,
you can look here and then kind of do a little comparison just to show you how they are all
different. I wanted to show you one more, again totally randomly picked.
Scroll down here. You will see with this one there is no load. These are all blank. So
there are no loads. So you just have your annual fee which is right here.
There you go. Pretty simple. Type in your ticker. Click on Expense. Scroll down. There
are the fees that you are paying on your investments. Until next time, this is Andrea Travillian
with TakeASmartStep.com.
