Hi friends! Miran online!
Music industry doesn't thrives only at the expense ofmusic itself today. Skills of composing and arrangement are important, but there aren't all useful resources.
Musicians use different methods to attract people attention such as costumes, masks, striking shows, strange lyrics and even difficult names.
Usually names mirror band's music. You can recognize grindcore or power metal by bandnames. And jawbreaking names are suitable for experimental musicians.
The first today band complicated own name with the deleting spaces in strange sentence "I wrestled a bear once"
"I wrestled a bear once" -- said Gary Busey on his show. And guitarist Steven Bradley realized this phrase (excluding spaces) as the good name for the band.
In principle that's right -- the name is very suitable to this team. Because you have only one thought while read the name or lyrics or just listen to this strange mix of disco, death-core and math-metal. The thought is:
"What the f*ck?!"
I thought in this way the first time five years ago, when I have watched their video "Tastes like Kevin Bacon".
Generally videos of "Iwrestledabearonce" are brainexploding -- you'd better just to watch them all...and, God, why Kavin Bacon?! Why not Fred Ward?
Sure, "Iwrestledabearonce" is memorizable because of furious vocal of Krysta Cameron. She used Bjork-like manner of singing as well as extreme techniques.
Yes, she usED -- Krysta was replaced by Cortney LaPlant on 3rd band's LP -- "Late for Nothing"
The next band is an example of relation between music and band's name.
But it's just one word -- paracoccidioidomicosisproctitissarcomucosis.
So, all this nonsense is the combination of different diseases. Trio of musicians from Mexico decided to get this word as a name of their band in 1999.
Music is the mix of goregrind/***-grind for sure; Lyrics include some kind of "***-sounds", diseases themes -- there is nothing unexpected.
Paracoccidioidomicosisproctitissarcomucosis has been making their grindcore stuff steadily since 1999 and didn't change their mind for the 15 years.
I mean they makewholefarted wholehearted music without click-track in contrast to Butcher ABC (Paracocci and Butcher ABC had a split album in 2004)
Now let's wander from the grind and check what French musicians have prepared for us.
Yeah, they are great lovers of experiments with music, band names -- everything!
One of these experimentators named Gautier Serre presented his brand new project Whourkr in 2005.
Gautier Serre is the copious avant-garde musician known as
Iiigor!
Well...not Iiigor...ok, more about that a bit later on.
Once Gautier with his friend Laurent tried to speak like the prehistoric people. The word "Whourkr" was occurring many times and they named their band this way.
Whourkr lyrics doesn't contain any meaning -- only the expression (evidently, taken from that Neanderthal conversation experience)
Whourkr music is a mad mix of extreme metal and electronic based on breakbeat and glitch-core.
This band splitup last year, but their legacy in 3 LP albums will be at your service...if you can digest this resampled a lot stuff.
But we don't have to be disappointed -- Gautier Serre makes something like Whourkr, but more crazy with Baroque tunes in his project -- ...
Iiigor!
Okay, in reality, Igorrr. It was a name of gerbil lived with Serre in his childhood.
Igorrr is astudio one-man-band with recurrent appearances of guest musicians like Pryapisme or Laurent Lunoir.
It is not the end of this strange names' sequence. Gautier & Laurent Lunoir make experimental gothic music in a band named...I am not sure that this name is possible to read. Let's call it Oxxoxoox.
By now this band has only one album "Reveurt" mixed by Serre. Gauiter is an author of acousticguitar parts as well.
Also OxxoXoox has a great logo, cool voice of Lunoir and the 2nd LP is coming soon. So why don'tyou look through "Reveurt"?
What do we have in result?
"Spacebarless" discomathcoreexperimentalsomethingelseIwrestledabearonce, owners of the longest bandnameparacoccidioidomicosisproctitissarcomucosis and the king of the crazy titles -- GauiterSerre (Whourkr, Igorrr, Oxxo xoox).
And the winner of our last competition is Dmitry Mahotin. He has guessed the Battlelore video clip for the song "Third Immortal".
Battlelore CD is on the way now! And if you want to get CD fo free -- guess the next clip!
