Alright, we are trying to work on overcoming our Ethnocentrism. And the next thing that
we have to do in order to do this is to avoid assumptions. And what that means is, before
we know, before we have any idea, before we have asked any questions, before we have done
any research, we're already deciding and making thoughts about another culture, about who
they are, about the way they think, about the way they feel, about how good or bad or
you know, anything about that culture. We are making decisions; we are assuming things
before we know the information. We're assuming that the French people are rude because that's
what we've heard. Go to France. Find out that they are very, very lovely people. We are
assuming that Rome is dirty and filthy and crime infested and, but we've never been.
So we can't make those assumptions. We have to do the research. We have to experience
it first hand. We have to talk to people before we make our decisions about other cultures.
