I find myself in Timbuktu after the events and the crisis that we all know.
It's to find out to what extent I can be useful to my fellow mayors for not only the return of
democracy but also the return of peace to Timbuktu and reconstruction.
These are aspects that go together and also the return of refugees. I am accompanied today by a delegation
of partners who would like to help me in this ambition to help our communities in Mali.
This is what brings me to Timbuktu today. Timbuktu is a symbol for Mali;
Timbuktu is to all of Mali the mysterious city and our pride of Mali. I am more proud to explore this city
Today, I give grace to God. I express all of my gratitude for the Malian armed forces
and I express all of my gratitude for the French armed forces for the actions taken
to liberate the men and women of Timbuktu so that they can practice the religion of their choice.
For freeing the antiquities and art recognized as world heritage.
I rejoice to be here. I am here with Anthony McDermott who is very engaged in humanitarian acts and wants to help.
