Today, I am revealing the most shocking news on Scriptural interpretation on Matthew 16 verse 18 by the Church Fathers. The Orthodox Catholic Christian Church has always interpreted this verse meticulously hence there was no confusion in the past at all. Now ask, who exactly is the Rock and how did the ancient Church Fathers interpret this specific verse? Let us go through this Biblical verse first. Matthew 16 verse 18 Authorized (King James) Version 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. For clarity, let us breakdown this verse into two parts, number 1, And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and number 2, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I prefer to separate them into 2 videos for the sake of clarity. Ask sincerely, who is the Rock, was it St Peter or was it God the Word Incarnate, Jesus Christ Himself? For more than ten years, I, too, did my own research personally as well as my official studies with the Ancient Orthodox Christian Church. The Ancient Orthodox Christian Church was steadfast that St Peter had some sort of primacy but they treated him as first amongst equals. But, here again, the same question goes back and forth, “Who is the Rock exactly?” This content is taken from my Catholic book, Catena Aurea, Commentary on the Four Gospels, volume 1 for the Gospel of St Matthew, as compiled by St Thomas Aquinas. If you have one, please turn to page 441. St Augustine, Bishop of Hippo, AD 354 to 430, writes, “I have said in a certain place of the Apostle Peter, that it was on him, as on a rock, that the Church was built. But I know that since that I have often explained these words of the Lord, “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock will I build my Church,” as meaning upon Him whom Peter had confessed in the words, “Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God;: and so that Peter taking his name from this Rock, would represent the Church, which is built upon this Rock. For it is not Said to him, “Thou art the Rock,” but “Thou art Peter.” But the Rock was Christ, whom because Simon thus confessed, as the whole Church confesses Him, he was named Peter. Let the reader choose whether of these two opinions seems to him the more probable.” Always be vigilant, a true believer understands Who the real Rock is, spiritually as well as fleshly. The human rock's attributes, thoughts, deeds and words are always consistent to the Immutable Word like St Peter and true Papacy. If the fleshly rock fails and even rebels against the Commandments of the Eternal Rock pridefully, is he not qualified to be a counterfeit rock? False Christ? False Prophet?Antichrist? Eternal Rock avers, by the fruit we shall know them. If they love perverse doctrines instead of Holy doctrines, they do not belong to the Eternal, Holy and Perfect. Ignorant of the Bible is ignorant of the real Rock. In Christ
