I'm Calum Worthy.
This is How A Show Becomes A Show, where
I take you step by step through how a show actually gets made.
Here we go.
[THEME MUSIC]
Hey, everyone.
It's the first episode, so we're going
to start at the very beginning, the first day of rehearsal,
which usually includes what we call a table read.
What is a table read?
Let's find out.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
So this is when everyone gets together and reads the script
out loud.
You get to meet everyone.
They're a little nervous.
You eat a lot.
It's fun.
Let me quickly introduce you to everyone that's
part of "Lost Generation."
We have Anna, the director, Kyle, the writer,
my amazing fellow actors.
They are Craig, Patricia, Emrah, Kenny, Will, Jonathan, Frida,
Melissa, Katie, and, of course, moi.
I couldn't be there in person, so I Skyped in.
So did Alex.
Last but not least, the legendary Duncan Sheik.
He wrote and composed all the music for "Lost Generation."
So basically, everyone gets the most updated version
of the script.
And then-- surprise, surprise-- we read it out loud.
It's the time for us to ask any questions,
make any changes to the script, and the writer
gets to hear it read by the actors for the first time.
In this case, we actually got to sing some of the music as well.
[COLLECTIVE SINGING]
This may actually be the last time that all of us
are in the same room together, because we have different shoot
schedules.
And some of us aren't in any scenes together at all.
So this is the only time that we see each other
during the whole production.
So while we're at the table read,
the production team and crew are hard at work doing other things
that make a show a show.
We're going to check out what those things are
in the next episodes.
See ya.
