Thank you
This is a very exciting day for WMATA and for bus riders
Today, a lot of the mystery gets taken away from riding the bus
How many times do you find yourself standing at a bus stop
wondering is the bus going to come.
The schedule says there’s supposed to be one in five minutes
but is it really going to come?
Well now you have a way of finding out
At any of our 12,000 bus stops around this region
If you have a cell phone
you can find out if the bus is coming
and when its coming
It’s something I know a lot of riders have been waiting for a long time;
A lot of people who aren’t riders
aren’t riders because of that very mystery
And they may not even know its coming.
But when they find out
I think a lot more people are going to be
willing to give the bus a try
I used it this morning on my way over here
on the 16 bus and was very quickly able to
get information about when busses were coming
that were headed in this direction
I think people are going to like it
It has the potential to really change the way
we get around our region,
to change the experience of bus.
There are a lot of changes we need to make.
This was an important one
and it’s a very big undertaking
It’s massive,
as I said; there are 12,000 bus stops in this region
and 1500 Metro busses so
it’s quite a big deal to implement.
It seems to be working pretty good
based on my experiences
but I expect there are going to be some bugs,
there always are and we ask people to bear with us
and also, send us suggestions because you’re
probably going to find things that can make the
system a little better and if so,
we’ll see what we can do about it
