When it comes to producing content for YouTube, eHow have the format absolutely nailed. They
tick every box in my list for YouTube channel mastery, and I highly recommend you take some
time to look at their channel and some of their videos to try and absorb what they do
and why it works.
The first thing that sets eHow's channels up for success is consistancy - regular, quality
video uploads, and a consistant brand both in terms of their visuals and in production
format. I truly believe consistancy is the most important factor for success on YouTube
- keep producing content, feed your subscriber base, and watch it grow. eHow have no problem
with this - over 16000 videos uploaded! That's insane.
eHow are known for their focus on keyword research, and I suspect they're strongly applying
that with their video production. They've attracted critism for their factory like article
writing practices in the past, but I don't believe that applies to their YouTube channel
- they're chucking a lot of money on this. Whether they are or not, all their videos
are PDC - Problem Driven Content. That means each of their videos solve someone's problem,
so they're going to be watched.
Lastly if you watch any of eHow's vids they are all produced to a professional, prime-time
tv level of quality - fast paced editing, constantly changing imagery and pro camera
work all achieve the same goal - they keep you engaged as a viewer, and keep you watching
their channel.
What will happen for eHow is the same thing every TV program is after, they'll attract
and retain an audience. You watch one video, it holds your interest, so you watch another.
The more you watch and the more you enjoy them, your brain makes a very simple decision
And that means you subscribe. Apply that to tens of thousands of people, and you start
to see how people grow huge audiences on YouTube. It's as simple as that. Keep producing quality
videos, and leave your viewers with one thought - "I want more"
