(grinding)
The Voice: Hey, Kevin.
What are you doing?
Kevin Caron: Well, we're . . . hang on.
That's dangerous.
I'm going to start a new railroad spike sculpture and I need to clean up a bunch of railroad spikes.
So, this is the less-than-glamorous side of being an artist: standing here for a few hours every day
just cleaning up the spike end and getting the rust off it and cleaning up the top; the head and getting the rust off.
And then I like to grind these flat and then grind a little flat spot on the top so when I weld them on top of one another,
I get a good bead on there so it's nice and stiff.
So, I'll stand here for probably four, five, six hours and go through about half of that bucket
and then I can start making my sculpture.
Back to work. Bye!
