On Friday, a German politician released a letter from Edward Snowden, in which he requested
clemency. A top administration official said that the White House was not considering clemency.
Two veteran French radio journalists were kidnapped and shot to death while on assignment
in Northern Mali , according to French authorities. It's unclear why they were targeted or how
an attack was able to be carried out around a town called Kidal, where both French troops
and UN forces are based.
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford apologized for "a lot of stupid things," including public drinking,
but did not admit to using crack, and has refused to resign from office. In a statement
this weekend, Ford called on police to release a video they say appears to show him smoking
crack.
Egypt's ousted President Morsi began his trial today, charged with inciting *** of protesters.
On Friday, a 23-year-old man arrived at LAX and shot and killed a Transportation Security
Administration officer and wounded three other people. He told police he acted alone, although
he was dropped off at the airport by a roommate. Paul Ciancia had a rifle, ammunition, and
a note that described his anger towards TSA officers.
A 19-year-old NYU student was miraculously rescued after falling 10 stories and getting
caught in 2-foot-wide shaft between his dorm and a parking garage. Asher Vongtau had been
missing since Saturday after a fire alarm was pulled.
Two Kenyans won yesterday's New York City Marathon in their country's third sweep of
the race's individual titles. Geoffrey Mutai finished in 2:08:24; Priscah Jeptoo finished
in 2:25:07.
Over the weekend, Governor Romney criticized his one-time opponent's "fundamental dishonesty"
for saying Americans would be able to keep their health plans if they wanted to.
New York Senator Chuck Schumer endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, declaring In a speech
in Iowa on Saturday that "2016 is Hillary's time." This follows last week's revelation
that every Democratic woman in the Senate had signed a letter urging Clinton to enter
the race. Clinton has yet to announce that she will run.
Yesterday, eBay removed about 30 items described as Holocaust memorabilia from its online auction.

Reps for Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin contacted the team yesterday
regarding allegations of harassment and player misconduct. The Miami Herald reports the bigger
issue is that Dolphins vets are using younger players as "ATMs" to live the Miami good life
without having to pay for it.
The Jets knocked off the Saints 26-20 to improve to 5-4. After losing by 40 points to the Bengals,
the Jets came home and beat one of the best teams in the league yesterday.
Scary moment last night in Houston as head coach Gary Kubiak collapsed while walking
off the field at halftime.
The Knicks lost to Minnesota last night, 109-100.
The Nets were stomped by the Magic yesterday 106-86 in Jason Kidd's coaching debut.
Justin Bieber stormed offstage at a concert in Sao Paolo after being hit in the face by
a water bottle. Beiber's had a rough week: First a Panamanian *** reported having
serviced him, then Bieber was caught leaving a Brazilian brothel.
'Ender's Game' won the weekend with $28 million. 'Bad Grandpa' came in second with $20.5 million
and 'Last Vegas' came in third with $16.5 million.
The New York Comedy Festival continues all week. The biggest stars in the world of comedy--
Stephen Colbert, Wanda Sykes, Kathy Griffin and many more-- will be appearing at venues
throughout the city.
