A number of Michigan residents are asking, "What do I get out of the newly restructured
hunting, fishing, and ORV licensing?" To start off, we've reduced the number of license types
to just over 40 - for a fair, simple and efficient license buying process. For the ultimate sportsperson,
$76 gets you a combination hunt and fish license. This includes a small game license, two deer
licenses, and an all-species fishing license. This provides ample outdoor fun, and plenty
of meat and fish for a fraction of what you'd spend at the grocery store. The new license
package also enables us to put more conservation officers in the field. More officers means
we're better able to protect our natural resource heritage, and provide safer recreational experiences
for Michigan residents and visitors. It also means improved game management and recreational
opportunities. For anglers, it means more investment in fisheries habitat in our lakes
and streams, stronger hatcheries producing healthier and more abundant fish, and more
effective strategies to improve pure Michigan fishing opportunities for everyone. For hunters
and trappers it means expanded habitat management and development - delivering more abundant
big game, small game, and bird hunting opportunities to make Michigan a premier destination for
hunters everywhere. Finally, it means expanding the state's ORV trails to 4000 miles of fun
and adventure, and providing our partners with grants to help us brush, sign, and maintain
trails for a better riding experience. For other great benefits, visit us at Michigan.gov/dnr.
