Hi, welcome to Bare Foot Works Yoga Studio in Lexington, Kentucky. My name is Teresa
Thompson and this is my assistant, Maria. Maria is a chair yoga student and has been
a wonderful student for about the last two years. We use chair yoga for individuals who
have issues with age, with weight, or injury, and we?re going to present a practice to you
today that we think you'll learn from and enjoy. We'll begin with a brief meditation.
We'll rest our hands gently on the knees. Bring the shoulders up to the ears and back
and down. Lift your heart, sit nice and tall. Release the eyes closed.
We'll begin to pay attention to the breath, just casually noticing how the breath feels
today. Is it rough or smooth? Is it coming easily? Just noticing the quality of the breath,
we'll begin inhaling and exhaling. Counting the breath, inhaling to a count of three and
exhaling to a count of three. As we do this, we'll notice our hands just resting gently
on our knees. We?ll bring our awareness to the lower belly and as we inhale, expanding
the belly, feeling the belly as we fill with air, and breath. On each exhale, we'll draw
the navel back towards the spine. Transitioning inward to that very special private place.
We'll set an intention for our practice today. This can be a personal goal or a more global
idea. So taking just a moment to set a goal for the practice. We'll bring our hands to
anjali mudra, prayer position
we?ll extend gratitude for our good fortune to be able to practice yoga together. Namaste.
