My name is Werner Vavken
and I'm the director of e-learning
with Valley Christian Schools.
And, I've been involved with e-learning for about five years.
I'm a retired electrical engineer.
Makes it all possible
because you have audio, video
any multimedia that you can think of
can actually be presented via Elluminate.
It makes web 2.0 come alive.
Students today - different from students when I was in school
They're almost born with a hard drive in their head
So, they need to have this interactive aspect in their educational menu, if you will.
So, unless you have something that's cool
and is really neat,
students - will zone out- they just tune out.
So, to me it's a necessary requirement in education today.
I'm Debbie Faires
and I'm a lecturer at the school of Library and
Information Science at San Jose State.
We use Elluminate in a lot of different ways.
We use it for synchronous class sessions;
We use it for recorded lecture presentations for instance
a faculty member might have a PowerPoint, so for recording narrated PowerPoint;
We use it for student group meetings;
for online collaboration;
We use it for training;
It has a socialization purpose
for a new student to learn how to use Elluminate, they're also getting to talk to other students - they like that.
We use it for technology trouble shooting; if somebody has a problem on their computer
we can have them show us what they're seeing on their computers.
We use it for tech trouble shooting;
and we've used it for tutoring; we use it in a lot of different ways.
My name is Corey Gin
and I'm the Senior Instructional Developer for e-campus at San Jose State University.
As a person that is supporting faculty, I think what
I feel is very successful
with Elluminate is
being able to give the tools that
faculty need
to be successful giving them the tools that
they were missing - that they didn't have before,
and it's just much more powerful
much more interactive
and what we would traditionally use it as.
