In this video I’ll be documenting
A common problem with the
Sony DCR-HC28 Handy Cam
(music)
The tape door will not stay closed
Or retract into the camera
(clicking)
As you can see when the tape
Is pushed into the camera
And the tape door is shut
Nothing happens
It just pops back out again
The infamous C32:11 error code
Is displayed on the screen
(beeping)
This error code indicates
That there is a problem
With the tape path
After a phone call to Sony tech support
I discovered that there were 6
Options to deal with this problem
1: Power cycle the camera
By turning the camera off
Removing the battery and power cable
Then turn the power button on for 40 seconds
To drain any internal power stored in the camera
Option 2: Reset the camera
To the factory defaults
You can do this by opening the LCD screen
And pressing the tiny reset button
With a small narrow object
Like a paper clip or a pen
Option 3: Spend $120.88 flat fee
Plus shipping one way
And send it off to the Sony Service Center
They will not only fix the camera
But they will refurbish and realign all the components
So it’s basically like new
And they’ll give you a 3 month warranty
Option 4: Find a local camera shop
That may fix it for cheaper
Option 5: My favorite
Take it apart yourself and
See if you can finagle it back together
And option 6: Buy a new camera
That doesn’t have as many moving parts
I will be going with option 5
I’m going to try to take this apart myself
And see what’s wrong
Hopefully I can get it back together
And it will be working
If I can figure out a solution
I will update this video
And post a link at the bottom
Thanks for watching
