Today’s episode of Film Riot is brought to you by the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl
Contest.
Bruno Viera, what can we say about him? He was a mammal, and a darn good one. Taken from
us, all too early, by a malevolent force, more specifically Ryan with a machete in the
last episode. But Bruno, Bruno was a beautiful man, a bearded man, the type of guy who would
walk in the room with three people and be the fourth person in the room. Yea though
we walk through the shadow of the doubt, he will not be in a frenzy, because when he looks
out his rear window, psycho bird ???, amen. Amen. That was beautiful man, you have a pretty
mouth. Starky, no I’m good.
Hey guys, I’m going to kill everyone you’ve ever loved right in front of you, and you
have to watch. That’s two done, *** hole.
Welcome to Film Riot, the show that takes the mystery out of the effects and techniques
that go into some of your favorite Hollywood films, I’m your host Ryan Connelly and last
week I killed Bruno with a machete. As I promised today, we are going to show how to do blood
splatter like a ***. Thanks to this email…
‘hey Film Riot, can you show how to make a big blood splatter effect?’
Yes, I can and I got to say it is some of the most fun I’ve had while figuring stuff
out for Film Riot on a show. Let’s go. Ok, so we have shown ways to do blood splatter
before. It’s on me. We’ve used snorkels, water guns and even a pressure cleaner but
what I have been wanting to do for a long time is buy an air compressor to really do
this right, so I ran over to Home Depot and bought an 155 PSI air compressor for $150,
which I also needed to get a hose for it and these connectors and I also got some extra
clear tubing. All in all I spent about $180.
Now once I had my lord’s breath home, I set it up and tested it on Bruno’s face.
Next I grabbed my plastic tubing and connected it to the hose which as another piece I had
bought that allows me to trigger the air when I want. Now on the other end of the clear
tube I attached a plastic bottle which I cut the bottom off of so this would be like my
barrel of sorts. But now that we had this, it was time to do some testing.
So we got all our air pressure up, we’ve got the blood in the tube and I’m about
to pull the trigger and 155 psi, so here we go. And…now that was a bit too much and
a bit uncontrollable as well, as far as the blood coming out and what not, which would
be cool for something later, but for this we wanted something much more controllable
so…
Before we try to fill all the blood up in the actual cup part itself, now we filled
up the tube and we put a little less in it to see what kind
of effect that is going
to have. I think is going to be more of a solid hit, a lot less spread but we’ll see. Ready… 3, 2,
